For one thing it's my own space, I currently run it on my own but I don't mind because it's my sanctuary, set slightly back from the real world, where I am surrounded by dragonflies... which of course I love. I do have customers popping in and out for company, many have quickly become friends and now and again some venture in who can only be described as kindred spirits. They might be local or just visiting Corbridge from far away, but it's always lovely...

THE POND- being the new platform for The Dragonfly Garden and Grove Pond Yachts.I am still and will always be obsessed with dragonflies and my husband will probably never shake off his passion for pond yachts either, so we have teamed up on the pond where our dragonflies and pond yachts have found a mutual home and make for a very unusual gift shop. They were a deeply spiritual civilization who captured the essence of the dragonfly in little more than 3 simple lines - a single vertical bar with two horizontal bars crossing it and sometimes with a circle for a head. Their beliefs were dominated by a very spiritual connection with nature. They believed that each person had a Totem or 'animal spirit' which...

The Dragonfly Life-cycle

It lives on the bottom of  a ponds or river shedding it's skin many times before it is fully grown and ready to be reborn. Dragonflies spend most of their lives as nymphs, usually 2-4 years. As they grow bigger they find it more and more difficult to breath in the water and this triggers an instinct to climb upwards.  Once out of the water the nymph gets a firm grasp onto the stem of a plant before it starts the incredible transformation into a dragonfly. This process of change is called metamorphosis. It takes just a few...
